Evidence mounts of the wickedness of Hamas in civilian deaths
The Samouni family knew they were in danger. They had been calling the Red Cross for two days, they said, begging to be taken out of Zeitoun, a poor area in eastern Gaza City that is considered a stronghold of Hamas.The story really buries the lead. The study it finally gets around to mentioning describes what is clearly a war crime on the part of Hamas. There really is no argument that it is a war crime to place weapons and munitions among the civilian population to use them as human shields. This is compounded by Hamas's war crime of deliberately targeting Israeli noncombatants.No rescuers came. Instead, Israeli soldiers entered their building late Sunday night and told them to evacuate to another building. They did. But at 6 a.m. on Monday, when a missile fired by an Israeli warplane struck the relatives’ house in which they had taken shelter, there was nowhere to run.
Eleven members of the extended Samouni family were killed and 26 wounded, according to witnesses and hospital officials, with five children age 4 and under among the dead.
Hundreds of members of the clan flooded in to Shifa Hospital, all from Zeitoun, many in shock. Masouda al-Samouni, 20, lost her mother-in-law, her husband and her 10-month-old son. She said she had been preparing food for the baby when the missile struck. “He died hungry,” she said.
Ten days into Israel’s offensive against Hamas, the militant Islamic group that governs Gaza, the civilian toll was rising alongside that of the militants.

“We have no intention of harming civilians,” said Maj. Avital Leibovich, an Israeli military spokeswoman. Hamas “cynically uses” civilians by operating in their midst, she said, adding, “Sometimes there can be situations where civilians get hurt.”
...A Red Cross official in Gaza said there had been many cries for help. In the case of the Samouni family, she said, the organization was told by the Israelis that it would be too dangerous to go into the Zeitoun neighborhood.
A study about to be published in Israel by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, an independent research group that has close ties to the Israeli military establishment and is supported by the American Jewish Congress, presents Hamas as having methodically built its military infrastructure in the heart of population centers.
The study presents photographs of militants manufacturing and storing weapons inside houses and of Israeli soldiers finding weapons hidden in a mosque in northern Gaza during a military incursion in March 2008.
Hamas not only hides among the population, the study contends, but has made a main component of its combat strategy “channeling” the army into the most densely populated areas to fight — a model that is now playing out.
Shireen Shihab, 30, a resident of Gaza City, said Monday that she had seen Hamas fighters firing rockets toward Israel from a site two blocks away from her home. She said she and others could not express any opposition for fear of being labeled spies.

Hamas is the only belligerent in the world that seeks to both kill noncombatants and get its own noncombatants killed. It is Hamas's strategy to get stories of Palestinians noncombatants misery and death on the front pages and then use those people it deliberately put in harms way as an excuse for its war crime of targeting noncombatants. It is a strategy that is not only cyncical but immoral in the extreme.
hamas has no moral authority to govern the palestinians. they are nothing but a bunch of hate filled morons without any sense of responsibility to the people of gaza. why make civilian populated areas of gaza their launching pad of terror against israel? when israel, after so much restraint and suffering fought back, this idiots hid behind civilians and made them into human shield just to survive! they even fire behind civilian positions and they used the dead and the wounded civilians for propaganda purposes and shamelessly blamed israel for the bloodshed, when in truth they are responsible for this mess. they are the ones responsible for every dead and every drop of blood shed by the civilians. they are islamists therefore muslims. is this the kind of moral values islam taught them? just wondering why most muslims are idiots.

let us not forget those animals who are behind this. iran and syria hate the jews very much, but they are cowards and too scared to fight israel. so they took advantage of hamas' stupidity by supplying this idiots with thousnds of missiles against israel and egged them to fire. they have tried it before thru hezbollah and hezbollah barely survived the consequense. now thru hamas, they hoped to terrorize and weaken israel into submission. but the opposite happened. now, they complain and protest because they don't like what they see. they even use the favorite weapons of the weak---helpless sloganeering and empty threats. ha ha ha. this people are muslims, but they are unforgivable for making islam a joke.
These Muslim fighters are only good at shaking their AK 47 and firing into the air and shout Allah Akbar. They are cowards like ALL Militant Muslim. True Muslim are those who fought Jihad for Islam for pure reasons of defending Islam. But these militant muslim are just sex maniac who hope the if they die, they will go to heaven and 21 virgins (houris)are waiting for them in Paradise as what their prophet promised them.
