Zawahiri steals Democrat talking points on Iraq

AP/CNews:

Al-Qaida's No. 2 man claimed in a new audiotape released on a militant website early Friday that that five years of U.S. occupation of Iraq brought only "failure and defeat," which the Bush administration will pass on as a "problem" to the next American president.

In the recording, Ayman al-Zawahri alleged that by acting on the advice of his top commanders in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, and halting further U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq until after July, U.S. President George W. Bush was "covering up for the failure" of his Iraq policies.

...

There is more of his usual non sense, but he still has not responded to my challenge to hold a victory parade in Baghdad if he al Qaeda is doing so well in Iraq. I don't think we will be seeing Ayman anywhere in public since his groups has suffered a strategic defeat in Iraq and is held in ever lower regard throughout the world.

In some ways his statement contradicts the Democrats since it is their position that al Qaeda is not in Iraq. Oh well, I am sure they will argue from both sides of their face on this issue too.
