A case for strategic patience
Austin Bay:
It is the only way to win. History shows that most insurgencies fail, but the average time to defeat them is 11 years. We are barely halfway there, We are winning, but the faint hearted "McDonald's" school of strategy that makes up the Democrat "think tanks" wants instant victory or a defeat they can tag the President with.
The Cordesman link above is to a Washington Post story today on his analysis. He seems to be a reluctant optimist in my reading. His acknowledgments appear grudging and guarded. Bay makes the better case and at least explains the importance of winning which is something the critics are in denial about.
