Royal Marines get fast stealth boat

This new secret superboat is the latest British weapon to help fight the war on terror.

The stealth boat, to be used by the Royal Marines, is thought to be capable of reaching speeds of about 70mph.

The vessel will be used in various roles including the insertion of troops in enemy territory and the hunting of drugs smugglers.

It is believed to have been designed and built by VT Halmatic, based in Portsmouth, Hants, as a replacement for two boats currently used by the elite SBS.

Experts believe the dull-grey boat will have been designed using stealth technology to help it avoid radar detection.

One of the boats has been spotted being put through its paces off the coast in Poole, Dorset, where the SBS is based.

It will then be rolled out for service around the world.

With special services on operations in numerous theatres of war around the world, the new craft will see plenty of action.

They will be used to insert and extract troops, patrol dangerous waters and hunt down drug smugglers in the Caribbean.

The boat is said to be extremely quite with a small wake. It will also be used by the Special Boat Service (SBS) teams which are similar to US SEAL teams. I think that after this article, it will be hard to call this a super secret boat anymore, but the radar absorbing paint does sound pretty special. Click on the image to see a larger view.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
