McCain does not retreat on Iraq war
He is taking his support for the war on the campaign trail to Iowa without equivocation or retreat. He has none of the double speak of Democrats who voted for the war before they voted against it. He also exhibits substantially more courage than the Democrats who have decided that there is some political advantage in losing even if it is bad for the country. He called the non-binding resolution a "political stunt," which it clearly was.
If he wins the nomination it will be because of his courage and his conviction that "the consequences of failure are catastrophic.” He knows that retreat will not end the war, but it will give the enemy hope and base of operation.
