Lieberman complicates Dems strategy on war funding

Politico:

...

"I have no desire to change parties," Lieberman said in a telephone interview. "If that ever happens, it is because I feel the majority of Democrats have gone in a direction that I don't feel comfortable with."

Asked whether that hasn't already happened with Iraq, Lieberman said: "We will see how that plays out in the coming months," specifically how the party approaches the issue of continued funding for the war.

He suggested, however, that the forthcoming showdown over new funding could be a deciding factor that would lure him to the Republican Party.

So, would Hagel switch sides then? Lieberman's position makes it very difficult for Democrats to push John Murtha's fraudulent "slow bleed" strategy for defeat. It also makes it harder for them to avoid responsibility for the policy of defeat that they are pursuing. But, don't think they will ever willing accept responsibility for the consequences of their policy. Just look at Nancy Pelosi's reaction to VP Cheney's suggestion that policies sh favors validates al Qaeda's strategy. Instead of whining about what he said, she should accept the challenge of explaining why it does not, if she can. Perhaps that is why she is whining.
