Saddam's codefendents set for Thursday hanging

An Iraqi government official told The Associated Press on Wednesday that preparations were under way to hang two of Saddam Hussein's co-defendants on Thursday.

Al-Arabiya satellite television and Al-Furat TV, run by Iraq's major Shiite Muslim political organization, both also reported that Saddam's half brother Barzan Ibrahim, a former intelligence chief, and Awad Hamed al-Bandar, the former chief justice of the Revolutionary Court, would be put to death Thursday.

The two co-defendants were originally scheduled to hang last Saturday along with Saddam.

The hanging of Barzan and al-Bandar was delayed, however, until after the Eid al-Adha holiday, which ends Wednesday for Iraq's majority Shiites.

Well, I am sure they had a happy holiday waiting to swing. This will give the Iraqi government something of a Mulligan on how to do executions with some minimal dignity and professionalism. They can begin by having all cell phones and cameras confiscated before the execution. They should also get more professional people involved in the process.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
