Imperial Hubris

VOA:

A new book by a senior Central Intelligence Agency officer says the United States is losing the war on terrorism and that the invasion of Iraq only strengthened the position of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

The author of the book Imperial Hubris is identified as "anonymous" and is still serving in the CIA's counter-terrorism department. He is described as running the hunt for Osama bin Laden from 1996 to 1999.

His book contends the war on terror is failing because U.S. leaders do not understand the real enemy is a worldwide Islamic insurgency, not just al-Qaida.

If they are winning, why can't they call a press briefing instead of hiding behind tape recorders? If they are winning, how come 75 percent of their leadership is either dead or in captivity?

The President has said from the very beginning of the war tht it is against all terrorist with global reach and is not just limited to al Qaeda. What kind of spook is this guy if he does not even know what his own President has said on the record? It appears that in Iraq we are fighting al Qaeda and Hizballah terrorist as well as other Islmic terrorist. Isn't that what he suggest we need to do? Based on this review, the book appears to be incoherent.
