Biden's 9-11 plea deals

 DC Daily Journal:

Republican lawmakers criticized President Biden Tuesday after a military appeals court upheld plea deals for three men accused of orchestrating the 9/11 attacks.

The agreements, which were brokered under Biden’s administration, would spare the accused plotters from facing the death penalty, sparking outrage among both lawmakers and victims’ families.

“This is an abomination. The fact that Joe Biden allowed these plea deals to happen on his watch is unforgivable,” Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Lawler, who represents New York’s 17th District, emphasized the enduring pain of 9/11 victims’ families. “Nearly 3,000 families will never be the same because of 9/11 — they have the right to see those responsible for their suffering face the death penalty,” he added.

Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY), a former NYPD detective, echoed similar sentiments. Representing parts of central and southern Nassau County, D’Esposito called the plea deals another example of what he sees as Biden’s leniency toward criminals.

“Last week, Biden saved the lives of 37/40 death row inmates,” D’Esposito said on X. “Now, his admin’s reckless incompetence may result in a sweetheart deal for architects of 9/11.”

He further criticized the president’s broader approach, claiming Biden is “fundamentally anti-victim & pro-criminal — totally backwards.”
...

Rep.-elect Derek Schmidt (R-Kan.) went even further, tweeting that the Biden administration “is the worst in American history.”
...

I thought that the Biden plea deals were another example of his dementia.  They make no rational sense.  People who engage in the mass murder of Americans should face the death penalty unless they can help find and prosecute other mass murderers.
