Veterans hit Walz's misleading claims about service record

 Newsmax:

Fifty GOP lawmakers who served in the military have signed a document to Democrat vice presidential candidate Tim Walz condemning him for making "egregious misrepresentations" about his 24 years in the Army National Guard.

The document was sent under a letterhead from the campaign of GOP nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, reports Politico on Wednesday, after obtaining a copy of the letter.

The GOP lawmakers' move comes after congressional Democrats last week signed a statement calling for attacks on the Minnesota governor's service record to stop.

Walz has been under fire over several questions concerning his military service, including his retiring rank and statements indicating he served in a combat role.

...

Vance, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, has been among Walz's strongest critics, accusing his Democrat rival of being guilty of "stolen valor."
...

Walz claims he is proud of his service record, but if he is why is attempting to claim service he did not experience.

Let me tell you about my own experience.  I graduated from college in three years and went directly to Marine Corps OCS and then Basic school.  When I finished Basic School I went to Vietnam as a Communication officer.   While half the day was spent in the Communications bunker handling messages the other half of the day had me occasionally under fire from artillery attacks by the NVA.  I eventually became the executive officer of an infantry company operating along the DMZ.  I was injured in a mortar attack one evening and medivaced to a field hospital and eventually was sent to Bethesda Naval Hospital for surgeries where I spent several months before being medically discharged.

Walz spent over 20 years in the military and none of it was spent in an active combat zone.  But to hear Walz you would get the idea that he was in such operations.
