Is Biden capable of a rational reaction to Afghan fiasco?

 AZCentral:

Afghanistan is much worse than the fall of Saigon. Biden needs to act like it
Opinion: The withdrawal from Afghanistan was a fiasco. But Biden seems to think that if he ignores it, the press will move on and all will be well.

Biden and his team seem incapable of even comprehending how badly they executed a withdrawal from Afghanistan.  Biden's dementia has made him too defensive to even understand his screw up and his advisors seem equally dumbfounded by the results of this screw-up.

...

The intel community leaked that they had warned the White House this would happen but were ignored. The Pentagon leaked their own warnings but insisted Biden overruled them, too. For his part, the president blamed everyone he could think of.

Biden blames everyone else

In his Monday speech, Biden first blamed President Obama’s decision to send 17,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. “I opposed the surge when it was proposed in 2009 when I was vice president,” he said.

He directed more blame at Trump, claiming he was unable to change the last president’s withdrawal deal. Sure, Biden systematically reversed every other Trump-era policy he could find, but his Afghanistan deal was somehow sacrosanct.
...

I think if the Joint Chiefs had offered their resignation they might have been able to stop this fiasco.  But they seem too wound up in their fight against the mythical "white supremacy" and "white rage" to deal with a real enemy.
