Poll on 2024 GOP race without Trump

According to polling data put together by analytics firm Echelon Insights, Trump would indeed be the top choice among Republicans if he chooses to launch a comeback bid with 41 percent of Republican-leaning voters backing him if the primary were held today

If Trump doesn’t run, then the polling shows that former Vice President Mike Pence is currently in the lead with 21 percent, doubling that of Senator Ted Cruz who clocks in at 10 percent although criticism over his trip to Cancun during the Texas power crisis could cut into that.

Coming in third, it’s a tie between Donald Trump Jr. and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

DeSantis’ star power currently rising over his state’s successful handling of the COVID crisis while not sacrificing the economy.
...

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley comes in at 6 percent although she is viewed with disgust and suspicion by Trump supporters after she stabbed the former president in the back and crowed about his political demise in an interview with Politico.

The ambitious Haley sought a meeting with Trump last week at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida but was rejected, hardly a good omen for her presidential aspirations.

Treacherous RINO and failed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romey comes in with 4 percent despite his petty ongoing vendetta against Trump.

In 2012, he choked away a winnable election against Barack Obama, which lead to the four more years of hell and lasting damage inflicted upon the nation in the 44th president’s second term.

Of any potential candidate, Mitt is far and away the most likely one to squander another golden opportunity against Biden.
...

There are other potential candidates polling around one or two percent who might enter the race.  But as I have noted previously, the media is already targeting Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis with negative stories to try to protect the terrible Biden.

Another poll indicates how important Trump is to GOP support.  It shows the establishment  Republicans like McConnell would be big losers if the party abandons Trump.
