Turks put on notice of cost of current policy toward Iran, Israel

Democratic and GOP lawmakers put Turkey on notice Wednesday, saying “there will be a cost” for that country’s increasingly cozy relationship with Iran.

GOP Conference Chairman Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.), a self-described proponent of Turkey, turned on the U.S. ally due to the country’s role in the recent flotilla incident in the Middle East. Turkey also voted against Iran sanctions at the United Nations last week.

Pence said he told the Turkish ambassador last week that “with regard to Capitol Hill, with regard to the Congress of the United States, there will be a cost if Turkey stays on its present heading of growing closer to Iran and more antagonistic to the state of Israel.”

Pence made the remarks at bipartisan event to highlight a letter signed by 126 members of Congress to the president warning the administration not to support a U.N. investigation into the recent bloody flotilla incident.

The lawmakers blamed Turkey for orchestrating the flotilla that resulted in a bloody fight after commandos boarded one of the boats and were met with resistance.

Democratic lawmaker Rep. Shelley Berkley (Nev.) said “Turkey’s on a charm offensive” this week, but she won’t meet with representatives of the country until she sees “a change of policy.”

“They will not come into my office, they will not be welcome in my office until I see a change of policy. Because I think the current trajectory the Turkish government is on is not only dangerous for Israel, it’s dangerous for the United States of America,” Berkley told reporters.

I hope Turkey gets the message as well as this administration. It is good to see some push back on their current policy. Their affinity for the Hamas death cult is inexplicable. While they recoil from suggestions of an Armenian genocide they embrace a group that is pushing for a new genocide against the Jews. The Turkish policy is one that is to make Israel defenseless against Hamas's acquisition of weapons from an Iranian government that is also urging a genocide against Israelis.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.
