Who is pulling your strings on energy
NY Times:
I am sure that many of those who were at the rally have a more direct interest in seeing that their jobs are not destroyed. Some of them were truckers whose business would also be killed by the Democrats' anti energy bill. But all of us have a stake in our economy and our freedom to move about in this country. We have a stake in seeing our standard of living not lowered because someone is worried about the thermostat setting 50 years from now may be lowered by less than a degree.
While I am skeptical about some aspects of global warming, what I am really skeptical about is the scare tactics being used to push a control freak liberal agenda. I would rather be warmer than have a bunch of liberals dictating major aspects of my life through blatant market manipulation. Having liberals pulling our strings is far worse than anything global warming could do to us.
Hard on the heels of the health care protests, another citizen movement seems to have sprung up, this one to oppose Washington’s attempts to tackle climate change. But behind the scenes, an industry with much at stake — Big Oil — is pulling the strings. Now wait a minute. Who is pulling your string when you go to the pump to buy gas? For me it is a free choice in exchange for the freedom to drive my truck where I want or need to go. I was at the rally despite not being employed by the energy business. I never have been either. I am an American who does not want to see the anti energy left ruin this great country.
