Desperate letter from al Qaeda in Iraq

World Tribune:

The U.S. military is eliminating Al Qaida's chain of command in Iraq.

Officials said several leading aides to Al Qaida network chief Abu Ayoub Al Masri have been killed by the U.S.-led coalition. They said two out of the four foreign aides of Al Masri remain alive.

On Sept. 25, the U.S. military killed an Al Qaida chief deemed responsible for transporting foreign operatives to Iraq. The Al Qaida commander, identified as Abu Osama Al Tunisi, was killed in a U.S. air strike as he met his colleagues in Musayib, about 60 kilometers south of Baghdad.

Shortly before he died, Al Tunisi wrote a letter that warned of a threat to Al Qaida operations in Karkh. The lettter, found by the U.S. military, sought guidance from Al Qaida leaders amid coalition operations that hampered Al Tunisi's network.

"We are so desperate for your help," the letter read. (Emphasis added.)

If he were still around we could confirm that the Democrats are doing all they can to help him avoid a US victory over al Qaeda in Iraq. No one has worked harder for a retreat from an American victory in Iraq.

This letter tends to confirm much of what we have been saying for weeks. Al Qaeda is on its heels and in desperate shape in Iraq. The Democrats and MoveOn are the only ones who can save them. Their supporting blogger search the news daily for bad news for the American effort in order to push their defeat agenda.

Al Jazeera
has more on the hand written letter.

US ground forces recovered a handwritten note at the site that was believed to have been written by al-Tunisi, Anderson said.

"The key points in this hand-written note include; he's surrounded, communications have been cut and he's desperate for help."

He said al-Tunisi oversaw the movement of foreign fighters in Iraq and designated areas to them from where they could launch suicide attacks and car bombings in the Baghdad area.

So far I have not seen coverage in the major US papers. It is understandable that the NY Times would be hesitant since they would have to go into their convoluted statement about al Qaeda in Iraq not really being al Qaeda even the both the leaders of al Qaeda have claimed as their own. They are sort of like the truthers who don't believe al Qaeda was responsible for 9-11. In both cases it is easier to blame everything on George Bush.
