Israel maintains Gaza focus too

Haaretz:

Israel Defense Forces troops, tanks and attack helicopters were
back inside the Gaza Strip again Sunday, firing missiles and exchanging fire with militants, signaling that the large-scale operation that began after IDF soldier Gilad Shalit was captured last month is still in full swing.

IDF tanks and armored personnel carriers approached the town of Beit
Ha
nun in northern Gaza early Sunday, residents and Palestinian security
officials said, as attack helicopters fired machine guns to clear the area of militants.

Before daybreak, an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a group ofgunmen,
Palestinians said. As ambulances approached, another missile was fired to keep them away, they said.

The IDF had no immediate comment.

Palestinian hospital officials said seven people - three gunmen and four
civilians, including a 4-year-old boy - were wounded in other missile strikes in Beit Hanun.

A missile knocked out electricity in northern Gaza, residents said.

Armed Palestinians exchanged fire with Israeli forces, and militants said they set off a land mine next to an IDF bulldozer building embankments near the residential areas of the town.

Israel has always had to be able to fight a multifront war and neither Hamas or Hezballah is capable of making a militarily significant attack. The current conflict demonstrates the limits of terrorism as a strategy or tactic. It would only be effective if Israel was continuing to occupy Gaza or Lebanon, but the withdrawel has given Israel greater tactical flexibility and made its forces less vulnerable.
