India bombers from Bangladesh
Maibai Mirror:
All the seven bombers involved in engineering blasts on Mumbai’s suburban trains on Tuesday were either trained in Bangladesh or had spent considerable time there after receiving training in ISI-controlled training camps in Pakistan. While India continues to suspect Pakistan's ISI as being behind the blast, I would still suggest they look for an Iran connection to the bombers. They have much more to gain from a war between India and Pakistan, while Pakistan has nothing to gain from blowing up some trains in India.
The Anti-Terrorist Squad is now quite certain that the seven bombers, and the others who helped them carry out the blasts, had a strong Bangladeshi connection. “At least three of them were Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India illegally. The rest, including those who provided the logistical support to the bombers, were either trained in Bangladesh or had entered India through that country,” a senior ATS officer said on Friday.
Of the 250 suspects picked up by the ATS from Malvani in Malad a day after the blasts, almost 240 were Bangladeshi immigrants. More Bangladeshis were either detained or questioned a day later at Nallasopara and Meera Road.
The ATS believes that Zabiuddin Ansari alias Zaby, who is suspected to be the brain behind the Tuesday’s blasts, is a Bangladeshi. Zaby, the officer said, escaped to Bangladesh through the 24 Parganas region in West Bengal after the ATS arrested eleven of his associates in Aurangabad and Malegaon and seized 30 kg of RDX. He, however, kept in touch with the sleeper cells he had helped establish in Mumbai and kept the plan to engineer serial blasts in Mumbai alive and brought it to fruition on Tuesday.
Zaby, the ATS officer said, had an affinity for fellow Bangladeshis. “He trusted Bangladeshis more and that is the reason we suspect there were more Bangladeshis involved in the blasts. We are also probing the possibility of the suspects having used the Bangladeshi soil to infiltrate India,” he said.
