Texas politicians critical of FBI raid on Trump's house
...
The search has riled national conservatives, including Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who took to Twitter Monday night to decry the FBI's actions as "Nixonian"—a reference to former U.S. President Richard Nixon, who resigned from office in 1974 following a slew of scandals involving his campaign's targeting of political enemies. "This is next-level Nixonian," Abbott wrote. "Never before has the country seen an Administration go to such extent to use the levers of government to target a former President and political rival. This is weaponized power to squelch dissent. Such abuses must have limits."
Senator Ted Cruz also condemned the search, which he called "unprecedented" and "an abuse of power," and demanded Congress schedule hearings investigating the FBI. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also spoke out against the search, framing it as politically motivated.
"Biden's decision to wield the FBI against Trump is a brazen & ill-fated attempt to distract from his own failures, Paxton tweeted Tuesday. "They're fully committed to weaponizing the DOJ to try anything to stop Donald Trump because they know he will hold them accountable."
Congressman Louie Gohmert also weighed in."This is an absolutely incredible move by the DOJ to pursue, harass and now invade the former President's home, who had authority to declassify documents. As we have seen with many January 6 defendants, the process is the punishment," Gohmert said in a statement. "Conservatives need to stay peaceful while verbally proclaiming the incredible abuses of these dictator wannabes."
It looks like this raid is going to backfire on the Biden administration and their abuse of power. It is also damaging the FBI and DOJ who now look like they have been fully politicized against the regime's political opponents.
