Democrats losing their grip on Rio Grande Valley
Texas Tribune:
Republicans more than doubled turnout in the Rio Grande Valley compared with the last midterm primary
Democrats in the region still had higher turnout, but Republicans celebrated the narrowing of the gap. Despite the improvement, nearly 87% of registered voters in the Rio Grande Valley did not vote in the primary, similar to the rate in 2018.
Where this really hurts the Democrats is in statewide races where Democrats were already a minority party. The increase in Republican support among Hispanics makes the Democrats' chance shrink even more.
The GOP did especially well with Hispanic women. I expect that will be a growing demographic for Republicans.
