Sinaloa loses another leader in Mexico

Mexican soldiers killed drug boss Ignacio "Nacho" Coronel on Thursday, the first major triumph this year for President Felipe Calderon's war against drug cartels but one that is unlikely to end spiraling violence.

The Mexican army shot dead Coronel, a senior member of the powerful Sinaloa cartel, as he exchanged fire with soldiers during a raid of a wealthy residential area in Guadalajara in western Mexico, officials said.

"Nacho Coronel tried to escape, wounding military personnel ... dying as fire was returned," Edgar Villegas, a senior army official, told a news conference in Mexico City.

One of the country's most-wanted traffickers, Coronel was known as the "King of Ice" for his multimillion-dollar methamphetamine business and was a top lieutenant of Sinaloa leader Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman, Mexico's top drug lord.

Coronel, 56, was indicted in a Texas court for allegedly smuggling tonnes of narcotics into the United States and Europe since the early 1990s. The United States had offered up to $5 million for information leading to his capture.

Troops backed by military helicopters swarmed normally quiet streets in the upscale residential area of Zapopan in search of Coronel, who the army said led a low-profile life moving between two luxury houses in the area.

"Shorty" is also known as "El Chapo." He has so far evaded detection at his location in the back woods. I have suggested that the US help Mexico by using a Predator to find him. It could also then take him out with a Hellfire missile. The Sinaloa cartel has been in a desperate fight for control of distribution corridors, particularly Juarez across from El Paso. Recently it appeared they were winning, but their infrastructure in Mexico and the US is under pressure like never before making it a bloody goal of questionable value.

This is a big hit for the Mexican army.  They remain the most competent force in the country.

    The next dangeous enemy remains in the police in different corpotations unfortunatelly. Until something efective is done to clean them, the rest of the job will turn less complicated.
    Infiltration is the cancer to fight.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit.
