Palin rallies with Perry

Houston Chronicle:

It was a bit cold and dreary outside the Berry Center, the Cypress arena northwest of Houston. Inside though, the atmosphere had all the heat and flash of a rock concert — loud music, a big crowd, and, of course, a genuine rock star: Ted Nugent, an outspoken conservative who was set to sing the National Anthem. The emcee was state Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston.

Former Alaska governor and GOP vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, who said she told her daughter Piper that Texas is "Alaska's little-sister state," parachuted in to endorse Rick Perry for governor, fresh from her star turn in Nashville as keynote speaker to the national Tea Party convention. Palin and Perry got to know each other through their involvement in the Republican Governors Association. He toured Texas with her when she was presidential candidate John McCain's running mate.

...

Perry was more focused and animated than I've ever seen him as he called for a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget. He welcomed "a conservative superstar to Texas."

Nobody else, he said, "gives liberals a bigger case of the hives than our special guest today."

It sounds like a raucous rally for Perry who seems to be running a very effective campaign to date.
