Lost weapons trucks triggers embassy closings

BBC:

The closure of three embassies in Yemen was prompted by Yemeni security forces losing track of six trucks full of arms and explosives, say reports from Yemen.

France announced its mission in the capital Sanaa was shut on Monday, a day after the US and UK closed theirs.

This follows threats from an al-Qaeda offshoot linked to a plot to blow up an airliner over the US on Christmas Day.

Yemeni government sources, meanwhile, said their forces had shot dead two militants north of Sanaa.

...

Well, that answers one of the questions about the embassy closings. I am assuming that the missing trucks belong to the Yemen government and that it does not have GPS trackers on its military trucks. The trackers would appear to be a worthwhile investment at this point.

Eli Lake at the Washington Times says US intelligence fears an assassination attempt or some other large target. "... the consistent theme that comes out in human intelligence and more sensitive sources is that they are going to hit something hard"

Update: The Telegraph has more on the missing trucks.
