Democrats and democracy--not in the House

Captain's Quarters:

The bitter partisanship in Congress will apparently get a lot worse after some shenanigans by Democratic leadership in the House last night. According to the Politico, the Democrats have not only attempted a revote after an embarrassing loss on an agriculture bill, but they've changed the records to expunge any mention of the vote they lost....
It appears that leadership in the House has been throughly corrupted. I think it is time to wipe out the results of the 2006 election and get rid of these guys.

The National Republican Campaign Committee added this:

Nick Lampson is misrepresenting his district again, but this time he was caught on tape. In a clear violation of yet another campaign promise, Democrats maneuvered last night to forcibly reverse the outcome of a vote that would have barred illegal immigrants from receiving taxpayer-funded benefits. After a majority of the House initially passed the measure barring illegal immigrants from receiving tax-payer funded handouts, Democrat leaders stepped in to strong-arm Lampson into switching his vote in order to defeat the measure and deliver benefits to illegals. He willingly obliged.

Thinking nobody was watching him in the dead of night, Lampson switched his vote at the behest of his leadership. By switching his vote from “YES” to “NO,” Lampson played a decisive role in defeating the measure. Because of Lampson, illegal immigrants stand to reap benefits paid for by hardworking taxpayers. (House Roll Call 814)

Let’s go to the tape!

...
I think Lampson must have made a decision not to run for reelection in Tom Delay's former district.
