Top chef relocates business from California to Texas

Add celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay to the list of people and businesses trading California for Texas.

Ramsay has relocated his North American restaurant headquarters to Las Colinas, Texas, from the West Coast, according to a report.

The 55-year-old Scottish-born "Hell's Kitchen" host has hired a team of businesspeople and chefs to expand his restaurant empire across North America, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The team has plans to open 18 restaurants in cities like Boston, Miami and Chicago.

Over the next five years, CEO Norman Abdallah says he’ll oversee the debut of 75 company-owned restaurants.

Some of the expansion will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The Dallas restaurants likely won’t open until late 2022 or 2023.

The company will first concentrate on expansion along the East Coast and Chicago.

He joins the California exit brigade to Texas.  Las Colinas is in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  It is a central location for businesses operating across the US.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014. When the Congressional Budget Office crunched Obamacare's spending numbers, they estimated that only 7% of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored plans would lose their plans. ...
