DeSantis's anti-wokeness bill

 Daily Mail:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday introduced the Stop WOKE Act, a bill to ban critical race theory teaching in schools and workplaces across the state.

The bill would codify a ban put in place by the state Department of Education earlier this year on the teaching in K-12 schools, as well as enact new restrictions on private workplaces.

The new statute will be introduced during the next legislative session.

It would allow parents to file lawsuits against school districts accused of teaching critical race theory, where attorney fees will be recovered 'when they prevail,' the governor said in a press conference.

'A lot of times these people will fear lawsuits more than a fine from the state Department of Education because when you do a lawsuit, you get discovery, and you're subject to that, and when they say they're not doing CRT and then you have all this information showing that they are doing it, it really is an uncomfortable position for them,' DeSantis said. 'I think that gives parents the ability to go in and ensure that our state standards are being followed.'

Additionally, it would protect teachers 'pushing back against unlawful mandates from their elected district leadership,' and gives the State Board of Education enforcement authority in K-12 settings.

The bill also includes provisions for employees to protect themselves against 'corporate wokeness,' or training in critical race theory. It would give employees a private cause of action against discrimination in the workplace.

...

It looks like legislation that would thwart some of the lies used by proponents of CRT to hide what they are really teaching by calling it other names such as "diversity, equity, and inclusion."
