Columbia invitation backfires
The Belmont Club notes that the invitation that "was to impress the Iranian president with the power of American freedom and the courage of American academia? Well according to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ahmadinejad has just called the US a 'dictatorship' whose citizens are now allowed to know the facts and described the Columbia invitation as a 'Zionist plot.'"
I doubt that the Columbia folks who invited him are really disillusioned. They are like all those terrorist right activist who claimed that giving Geneva conventions protections to terrorist who are not entitled to it would lead to better treatment of our troops who are captured. Well you can forget that too, since they are executed and mutilated and the terrorist rights folks want even give us a "my bad," much less an apology for their misguided advice.
