Taiwan determined to resist Chicom tyranny

 Washington Examiner:

In a speech during a Taiwanese National Day parade on Sunday, President Tsai Ing-Wen said that Taiwan will not bow to Chinese military pressure, hoping for an ease in tensions between the two countries.

"We will continue to bolster our national defense and demonstrate our determination to defend ourselves in order to ensure that nobody can force Taiwan to take the path China has laid out for us," Tsai said. "This is because the path that China has laid out offers neither a free and democratic way of life for Taiwan, nor sovereignty for our 23 million people."

Tsai is overseeing a military modernization program in Taiwan intended to strengthen the country's defenses. The initiative includes plans for Taiwan to build its own submarines and long-range missiles that can strike deep into China if necessary. Tsai asserted that Taiwan and its citizens "do not have the privilege of letting down our guard," Reuters added.

They need rapidly build up their defenses to deal with Chinese aggression.  It looks like the Chicoms think the weakness Biden showed in Afghanistan will be repeated in a potential invasion of Taiwan.  Japan has also indicated that it would oppose such an invasion.
