Witness Statement from a Colorado state representative who attended Trump rally on the mall in Washington

 Rep. Ron Hanks:

...

Let me say, the two events of yesterday – the Trump Rally, and the assault on the Capitol, seem like they originated in two different hemispheres. The Trump Rally on the Ellipse, between the Washington Monument and the White House, was several hundred thousand friendly, polite Americans from all demographic groups and ages. I spoke at length with a young woman from Minnesota, originally from Somalia, raised in a refugee camp in Kenya. She came to America and was warned in the public school systems that Republicans and conservatives were racists and full of hate. She’s learned otherwise, and she was a delightful example of the love of America we share among our fellow citizens. There was a group of Poles from Chicago who love this country, support what Trump has done for it, and who lived under communism in their native country. They’ve seen once before the road we are now traveling – the distorted media, the limits on freedoms. They are afraid for our country, and know what they are talking about.

Obviously, I cannot know the mind of every member of a crowd so large. But those who attacked the US Capitol were different than those I saw at the Ellipse. Very few people at the Ellipse were wearing masks. Those at the Capitol were wearing bandanas, like the Antifa bandits of the summertime riots. There were many elderly folks and couples at the Ellipse. At the Capitol, the perpetrators were mostly young males, and many of those had helmets, some had gas masks. I saw no one at the Ellipse with any such equipment.

When the Trump Rally at the Ellipse ended after 1 p.m., there was a slow movement of the crowd toward the US Capitol, with intent to stand outside it while election certification was on-going. President Trump indicated he was going to make the trip with us. My group walked up the Mall and got there ahead of about 90% of the group, but we were surprised to see people already on the scaffolding on the west side of the building, waving flags. It seemed uncharacteristic of the peaceful, polite orderly crowd I had just spent the last 7 hours with.

In addition, it was cold in DC. We had all been standing in one spot since 7 a.m. I was stiff, cold, in pain from standing on the hard ground. Those that were scaling the scaffolding and running up and down the steps seemed much fresher than those of us migrating up the Mall to the Capitol.
It seems unlikely to me President Trump would be part of a group that intended to assault the Capitol. It seems more likely that there were people who intended to blend in to the group, then create mayhem and blame it on Trump supporters.

The video I watched later that evening showed young men sparring with Capitol Police. There seems a dichotomy here: Pro-Trump citizens are generally law abiding, pro-police types, not antagonistic, Defund the Police agitators. The videos seemed to show the dancing, sparring types of rioters we saw all through the summer of 2020 in the BLM/Antifa riots. And there was an interesting note on the language used on the main stream media that evening. The media attributed this violence to Pro-Trump “rioters”. When it was BLM/Antifa over the summer, the media referred to them as “mostly-peaceful protestors.”

The media was quick to mention how these riots would forever sully the legacy of President Trump. To those that have seen a biased media tear down a popular president, it is easy to conclude that was the point of this entire assault. It was not to advance the efforts of Freedom and Liberty, it was to discredit a huge segment of society – in my estimation, a majority of our society.

We are down to the very final options to right a flawed election, and it is possible it will not happen. I had limited optimism the certification would go any differently than it did.
I would assess now the last element of hope to rectify the election fraud is an intelligence drop of irrefutable information, possibly supported by foreign intelligence agencies, such as Israel, possibly the UK and Australia, that proves the collusion of foreign and domestic entities to swing the election to Biden.

Patriots, and all Americans are in a perilous dilemma: This isn’t just an economic system or policy priorities we are arguing about. There is a nuclear and national security aspect to this election that must not fall into the hands of foreign enemies or their domestic agents. These are dangerous times. Any entity that would commit this much fraud has dangerous intent, and I do not envision any election in the future that will overcome the power they will accumulate. The State of our Union is GRAVE.

I think it is important to hear what an eye witness to events of history says about it.  I have not seen much effort by the mainstream media to do that.  I support the investigation of those who engaged in violence.  I do not support the overbroad condemnation of those who attended the event seeking a redress of grievances stemming from the election who did not engage in violence.
