A flashing red light warning to GOP Senators thinking of voting for conviction of Trump

 NY Times:

10 Republicans Voted to Impeach Trump. The Backlash Has Been Swift.

The House Republicans who voted to charge President Donald J. Trump with inciting the Capitol riot are facing a fleet of primary challengers, censures and other rebukes from their party.

If Republican Senators go along with a BS charge like this one they are clearly making a career shortening decision.  The timeline of events and the subsequent investigation by the FBI demonstrates that the attack was planned beforehand and that Trump did not incite the attacks which were underway before he finished speaking.  It is also clear that his comments were protected speech under the 1st Amendment.

The impeachment vote appears to be an emotional reaction to the attack before an investigation could determine the facts.  It is also the equivalent of a grand jury made up of victims voting to indict.

The people responsible for the riot were the rioters.
