Trump is the best friend the UK has as it tries to escape the clutches of the EU

Washington Post:
An unpopular Trump casts a shadow over Britain’s general election

In Britain, more than any other country aside from the United States, he has sought to bolster his political allies and trash his detractors. British officials have been taken aback by such overt election interference by a close ally.
He may not be popular with those whose self-interest is in staying in the EU, but Trump is clearly on the side of those who voted for Brexit and support it.  A trade deal with the US will probably be a benefit to the UK as they leave the control-freak environment of the EU with its goofy rules about the size and shape of fruits and vegetables and its terrorist rights agenda.
