Why was a pickup truck with nine people in the back fleeing the Border Patrol?

NY Times:

3 Killed After Pickup Truck Fleeing Border Patrol Hits Tire Spikes and Crashes

A pickup truck with nine people in its bed crashed and flipped over in Southern California after driving over tire spikes placed by the Border Patrol.
Were those in the truck illegal aliens.  I suspect they were and that is why they were fleeing the Border Patrol. 

But why does the NY Times not even mention this in their lead? 

I suspect it is because of the hostility of liberals to the enforcement of this country's immigration laws.  You get the impression that they think that if the Border Patrol was made up of good liberal Democrats they would just wave these people on through or stop them and give them a voter registration card.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
