Canada needed to invest more in its military regardless of its current excuse

Washington Post:
Canada will build up its military as the U.S. pulls back from world stage, foreign minister says

Chrystia Freeland told the House of Commons that Washington has decided to forfeit its position of leadership, and that Canada intends to make “a substantial investment” in its military in the face of threats posed by terrorists, Russia and North Korea.

Despite Freeland's posturing, Canada would have a difficult time holding off the Texas National Guard without US help.  It has allowed its military to atrophy to a point where major investment is needed.

If Trump's position forced them to finally take actions then good for him, but the liberals in Canada are fooling themselves if they think they will replace US leadership in the defense of NATO.  They just do not seem to want to admit that they are doing exactly what Trump insisted on.
