Ratcheting up the pressure on the Norks

Washington Post:
Tillerson says diplomacy with North Korea has ‘failed,’ time for new approach

The secretary of state’s comments will fuel fears in the region that military options might be on the table to deter North Korea.
This is a refreshingly honest appraisal coming from a diplomat.  For over 20 years we have been pretending that diplomacy could solve the irrational behavior of the hermit kingdom  It has been a total bust occasionally giving into extortion in return for illusory promises.  The current pressure on North Korea and its Chicom allies is a different approach.  While military options have always been on the table, I suspect that financial pressure from the US and China will come first.  Banking transactions by North Korea are likely to be the first casualty.
