Breaking the failed status quo for education in US

NY Times:

Education Pick Confirmed as Pence Breaks Tie in Senate

  • The vote on Tuesday was the first in Senate history in which the vice president was called in to break a tie on a cabinet nomination. Two Republicans voted against the confirmation.
  • Betsy DeVos, a wealthy donor and proponent of charter schools and vouchers, has limited experience with the public school system.
This is more evidence that Democrats were determined to back the status quo which has failed students, particularly in minority neighborhoods.  This vote should come back to haunt democrats when Blacks and Hispanics can see who has the best interests of their children at heart instead of the interests of the teachers union which has a corrupt bargain with Democrats.
