Democrats fear losing their corrupt bargain with the education establishment

NY Times:

Trump’s Pick for Education Could Face Unusually Stiff Resistance

Betsy DeVos, a billionaire who has never been an educator or overseen a state education agency, has her own questions to answer about potential conflicts of interest.
The reason for the resistance has little to do with  "potential conflicts of interests" of Betsy DeVos.  It is all about the attempt of Democrats to protect their flow of funds from the teachers' unions that oppose having to compete for students and spending on their education.

It is typical of the bad faith they have exhibited while keeping especially poor kids in failing schools.  They are holding these kids hostage to their own conflict of interests.
