German soldiers used drugs in World War II?

NY Times:

High With Hitler: Book Says Nazis Were Fueled by Drugs

A German writer tells how he unearthed a startling fact about the Third Reich for his best-selling book, “Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany.”
I think the story is credible.  I have read extensively about World War II and have seen some suggestions that Hitler also was using drugs.  If it is in fact, the case, it did not turn them into supermen or make winners of them.

The Taliban and some other Islamic fighters have also been known to get high before combat.  Perhaps it is also used but the human bomb attackers.
