Regime change in Iran not an option?

NY Times:

The disclosure of a new nuclear enrichment site in Iran places the government “in a very bad spot” and raises the prospect of “severe additional sanctions,” Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said in an interview broadcast Sunday.

Mr. Gates restated his strong preference for a diplomatic solution. "While you don’t take options off the table, I think there’s still room left for diplomacy," Mr. Gates said on CNN’s Sunday program "State of the Union."

“There is no military option that does anything more than buy time,” he added.

...
Well regime change would do more than buy time. Certainly it would be more difficult than just bombing the facilities, but we should not rule it out completely. It might even be a further motivator if the sanctions do not work, which they probably will not because too many people want them to fail.
