The migration crisis

NY Post: A new, 2,000-person migrant caravan is making its way north to the US border — and is expected to reach El Paso, Texas, in just the next few days. Videos posted online show a swarm of people walking through the streets of southern Mexico on Monday. In one clip , an apparent leader could be seen encouraging the group through a bullhorn to chant “A la frontera” — meaning “To the border.” The group proclaimed in Spanish, “We are not criminals, we are international workers.” Church-run border shelters are preparing for the group’s arrival, as they run out of space to house the thousands of migrants trying to make their way into the United States, according to Border Report. “We are in contact with people and personnel in migrant shelters in south Mexico,” the Rev. Francisco Bueno Guillen, director of the Casa del Migrante shelter in the border city of Juarez, Mexico, told the news station. “They saw many people have come into the country recently and are being joined by others a

Oop!

Daily Mail: Woman 'nurses stricken baby hedgehog' overnight only to 'discover' it was a fluffy hat bobble when she took it to an animal hospital ... The animal lover claims she found what she believed to be an injured creature on the pavement and 'spent a night looking after it' - despite it being somewhat lighter and fluffier than the spiky creature. The next morning, she took what she says she thought was a motionless mammal to Lower Moss Wood Nature Reserve & Wildlife Hospital, in Knutsford, Cheshire, in a box meticulously lined with newspaper and even placed a small dish of food next to it, as she remained by its bedside. But when hospital manager Janet Kotze opened the box, she realised the 'hedgehog' actually belonged on a woolly hat. ... It does not appear to be life-like to the rest of the world.

New York's squatter policies

NY Post: Joe Rogan has hit out at woke squatter policies in cities like New York that he says are “basically allowing people to steal other people’s homes.” The podcaster was discussing recent reports of homeowners struggling to take back their houses from squatters with comedians Dave Attell and Ian Fidance on his show Saturday — noting how one woman in Queens was even arrested after she changed her locks to force them out. Under New York law, squatters have rights to a property after living there for just 30 days. “That is bananas,” Rogan said. Fidance then mentioned that squatters have taken over more than 1,000 homes in Atlanta, Ga. “A thousand is crazy,” Rogan replied. “That means they know how to do it and they know the loophole — and you need to tighten that loophole up, you f–heads,” he said, apparently referring to the woke politicians. ... It is the theft of property and there should not be a time limit on prosecution for it. Allowing squatters to obtain property is ridicu

Hamas war crime

Amit Soussana, a 40-year-old lawyer, went public with the story in an interview with The New York Times on Tuesday. Her testimony has been backed by two doctors and a social worker who spoke to her shortly after she was released. She also recounted being tortured at another location. ... GOP threatens classified document case against Biden

AP: House Republicans threatened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress if he did not turn over unredacted materials related to the special counsel probe into President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents . In a letter Monday — obtained by The Associated Press — Reps. James Comer and Jim Jordan demanded that Garland comply with the subpoena the two Republican chairmen sent last month as part of their emerging investigation into Special Counsel Robert Hur's decision not to charge the president. Comer, chair of the Oversight Committee, and Jordan, chair of the Judiciary Committee, ordered the Justice Department to turn over the unredacted audio and transcripts of Hur's hourslong interviews with Biden and his ghostwriter by April 8. “If you fail to do so, the Committees will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings,” the two lawmakers wrote. The Justice Department reacted to the letter late

NY Post: Video catches migrant cutting Texas border fence before National Guard troops stop illegal crossers   A migrant with bolt cutters snipped a wire border fence Sunday, then led dozens of migrants through the hole — only to be turned back to Mexico by National Guard troops. The Post observed as the migrants pulled fencing away and pushed through the state’s concertina-wire barrier near a gate in the wall, entering the US illegally, near El Paso, Texas. Footage of the incident taken by The Post showed guardsmen appearing and blocking the migrants, and directing them away from Gate 45, which is not a legal port of entry, and back to Mexican territory. The incident comes days after another encounter a few miles away at Gate 36 in the border — where more than  100 people bum-rushed  Texas National Guard soldiers last Thursday. 5 A migrant uses bolt cutters to cut Texas border wire near El Paso. The Dems' law and order problems

Charles Lipson: Polling data shows Democrats are in deep trouble on the issues of domestic safety and unbiased justice. Voters say they want law and order and aren’t getting it. They want enforcement of criminal statutes duly passed by their representatives. They abhor favoritism for some and targeting for others. They want personal safety and basic fairness. They deserve them. And they are angry. They resent the wide-open border, street shootings, street-corner gangs dealing drugs, carjackings, and unchecked shoplifting. They are stunned that squatters can simply take over houses from their rightful owners. They are troubled by the aggressive prosecution of Donald Trump, while Joe Biden skips away from his family’s extensive grifting operation and a garage full of classified documents. Although these issues are usually considered separately, they are also important together. The concerns overlap and reinforce each other, harming Biden and his political party. Democrats are seen as we

The dangers of Biden's open borders policies

Daily Caller: President Joe Biden is currently considering granting amnesty to illegal migrants in a bid to act on the worsening immigration crisis, according to Politico. Biden and his administration are weighing several ideas to take a tougher stance on the southern border crisis and illegal immigration amid criticisms he has thus far failed to act on either. The administration could start dolling out green cards to illegal immigrants who have long stayed inside the United States, thereby giving them amnesty to stay in the country, three people familiar with the planning told Politico. (RELATED: Immigration Overtakes Inflation As Top Voter Concern In 2024: POLL) The plan would grant migrants who have been in the country for more than 10 years access to the cancellation of removal program provided that they have relatives who would suffer if they were deported, according to Politico. Migrants could then receive a green card — a permanent residency grant — if they meet the cancellat

The problem with Biden's EV agenda

NY Post: ... The Biden administration’s push to get people into electric vehicles is running directly into the chief advantage of internal-combustion-engine cars, which is the sheer convenience. People don’t really have “range anxiety,” the fear their electric vehicle will run out of its charge. Electric cars have acquired more range now, and most people aren’t driving 300 miles in a single trip, regardless. No, it’s the time it takes to charge an electric car compared with the ease of a trip to the gas station that is the issue. Gas stations already exist (about 145,000 of them with a million gas pumps), and no one had to subsidize their creation. They are convenient and cost-effective and make economic sense. Making charging stations available on a comparable scale will present formidable obstacles. As Mark Mills of the National Center for Energy Analytics points out in a paper on electric cars, transporting the large amounts of energy at the necessary scale using electric energy v

Biden administration emboldens Hamas

Newsmax: The U.S. government was able to unify Israel and the terrorist group Hamas on one key issue: Both sides now agree that President Joe Biden has undergone a shift on policy toward America's Jewish ally. Israel decried and Hamas praised an abstention by the U.S. from a United Nations Security Council vote Monday that called for a cease-fire without demanding the release of the remaining hostages. While the U.S. asserts that the resolution is nonbinding, experts say it is. Regardless, Hamas, the terrorist group that occupies and runs Gaza, is now more emboldened to do nothing in hostage negotiations. "Regarding the American administration, there is no doubt that there are clear changes in its policy towards Israel," Hamas spokesperson Ghazi Hamad told Newsweek. "And this is perhaps due to the stupid and foolish policy of the occupying state, which commits genocide, killing civilians, and starvation. "America has found that Israel is putting it in an awkwar

The crimes of the illegals

Real Clear Investigations: When President Biden’s supporters attacked him for describing the man who allegedly murdered Georgia co-ed Laken Reilly as an “illegal,” they shined a light on one of the most contested words in American politics. The progressive push to describe border crossers as undocumented or unauthorized can also serve to downplay and obscure the massive issue of crime perpetrated and spawned by the influx of millions of migrants since Biden was elected – often in ways that leave the migrants themselves as victims. While migrant advocates argue that illegal arrivals commit crimes at lower rates than Americans, the claim is unverifiable because the federal government and most states do not break down crimes by immigration status. Criminologists also note that it ignores the vast web of statutory crimes concurrent with illegal immigration – drug smuggling, human trafficking, child labor violations, prostitution, the black market in employment, and so on. What remains und

Ukraine knocks out Russia Black Sea operations

Business Insider: The UK's defense ministry declared Russia's Black Sea Fleet "functionally inactive" after Ukraine claimed to have struck another two of its ships. UK Defence Minister Grant Shapps wrote on Sunday that Ukrainian attacks are taking a "massive" toll on the Russian fleet, in a post that appeared to confirm a pair of strikes Ukraine announced on Sunday. "Russia has sailed the Black Sea since 1783 but is now forced to constrain its fleet to port," Shapps wrote. "And even there Putin's ships are sinking!" ... Earlier on Sunday, Ukraine announced that it had struck two large landing vessels in the port of Sevastopol, in Crimea. Some sources said the missiles used to hit the Yamal and Azov were likely UK-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missiles. The Yamal sustained critical damage to part of its upper deck and is taking on water, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence claimed on Monday . A communications center and several infra

Trump has 5 point lead

Newsmax :  With majorities deeply concerned President Joe Biden is too old to be president (63%) and is mentally unfit to serve (57%), presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump maintains a 5-point lead in the full field in the latest poll released by the Harvard Center for American Political Studies. Trump leads Biden by 3 points (47%-44%) in the head-to-head matchup, but his lead stretches further when the other candidates are added, showing third-party challengers cut into the incumbent while Trump holds steady. ... Biden's sagging numbers show a lack of confidence in his age and mental fitness as 63% said he is too old to be president and 57% said he is unfit to serve. Also, a plurality of 48% said Biden is getting worse as president as the weeks go on. Electing a president who is mentally unfit is "dangerous" for the country, according to 60% of the respondents. There is also considerably doubt about Biden's "plausible deniability," as whistleblower Tony Bob

Container ship causes bridge collapse

Image
Baltimore Sun: Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed early Tuesday morning after a support column was struck by a container ship, sending at least seven cars into the Patapsco River, launching a search-and-rescue operation and prompting Gov. Wes Moore to declare a state of emergency. In a Tuesday morning news conference, just a few hours after the incident, Baltimore Fire Department Chief James Wallace said authorities are “still very much in an active search and rescue posture,” noting they are searching for “upwards of seven individuals” and that sonar has detected the presence of vehicles in the water. There is no indication that the event was intentional, Wallace said. “This is a tragedy that you could never imagine … It looked like something out of an action movie,” Mayor Brandon Scott said. The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed overnight after being struck by a ship in the early morning of Tuesday, March 26. Video from the incident shows the container ship

Restricions on foreign ownership of US land

Federalist Wire: The world is becoming a more dangerous place by the day. America’s adversaries are chomping at the bit to try and destroy us. And this Republican Governor issued a dire warning about these foreign enemies. The United States’ enemies are trying to find new ways to invade us. They’ll send terrorists through the southern border, which is wide open thanks to President Joe Biden and his administration. Or they’ll buy up land for agricultural purposes in order to try and control America’s food supply. And that’s exactly what Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) is warning the U.S. about. When appearing on a recent episode of Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” Noem suggested that other states sign a bill into law that’s similar to the one she signed last month, which bans certain countries from owning land in South Dakota. In the past, South Dakota had banned any country from owning over 160 acres of land in its state. But with the new law that Noem signed, China, Iran, Cuba, Russia, V

New Yorkers should move to Texas or Florida while they can still afford it

NY Post: New Yorkers who recently ditched the city for low-tax hot spots in Florida and Texas are finding the savings to be a lot less than they would have if they moved four years ago as the cost to rent or buy a home soars. Rents and home prices in Miami have surged by around 40% since the pandemic, which sparked the Great Exodus from the Big Apple to the Sunshine State, as well as to Dallas and Austin in the Lone Star State, according to a study by financial information provider SmartAsset. The result has been that New Yorkers earning $250,000 who moved to Miami last year ended up saving $88,036 — or 28% less compared to people in the same income bracket who moved to South Florida in 2019, the study found. By comparison, those early settlers had saved $122,956, according to the data, first reported by Bloomberg News. The two Texas cities that have seen explosive population growth in recent years also aren’t the bargain they once were, according to SmartAsset. A New Yorker earning $

Israel should have the right to take on Hamas wherever they are found.  Hamas engaged in the mass murder of Israelis and for that, it should be eliminated.

Wasn't Dems who wanted to defund the police?

Red State: White House Absurdly Claims Biden Won't Let GOP 'Defund the Police,' Other Preposterous Nonsense   Buck-passing, which embattled Joe Biden has honed to a tee throughout his miserably failed presidency, is one thing; flipping the script on the " Defund the Police " movement and now trying to blame it on the Republicans — and vowing to stop the GOP from doing so — is off-the-charts Looney Tunes.  Then again,  Joe Biden. As exclusively  reported  by Fox News, the opening sentence reads like satire: The White House is blasting House Republicans and accusing them of taking steps to defund the police while claiming President Biden will protect law enforcement and support crime-reducing programs.  Farcical — on several fronts. First, of  course,  it was Democrat city officials across America who ushered in the insanity of the Defund movement in the aftermath of George Floyd's death and subsequent left-wing riots. Second, to suggest that the  Republican Pa

Biden's war on gas vehicles

NY Post: The Environmental Protection Agency released what it calls the “strongest-ever pollution standards for cars,” which it claims will “expand consumer choice in clean vehicles.” That’s a stretch: These new regulations, which are clearly beyond EPA’s defined powers, will limit overall vehicle choice and force Americans into expensive and unreliable electric vehicles. The EPA expects plug-in electric vehicles to make up between 62% and 70% of the automotive market. But this unrealistic target ignores two key facts: First, consumers are not lining up to purchase electric vehicles, which made up only 7.6% of 2023 vehicle sales despite heavy subsidies. American drivers simply aren’t embracing EVs because they know these vehicles have shorter driving ranges and longer refueling times. Not to mention that they’re significantly more expensive. The five-year cost to own an average electric vehicle is more than $92,000, according to the North American Auto Dealers Association. Compare th

Terrorist on the border

Townhall: Terrorists Are Storming the U.S. Border Thanks to Joe Biden's Immigration Crisis An illegal immigrant caught trespassing into the United States through the southern border, revealed he was here to “make a bomb.” Federal court documents revealed that a member of the terrorist group Hezbollah told law enforcement agents that he was planning to make a bomb in the U.S. after illegally entering the country through the Texas border. ... The New York Times reports that Gov. Abbott is slowing the illegal migration:  For many months, the small border city of Eagle Pass, Texas, has provided the backdrop for a bitter legal battle between Gov. Greg Abbott and the Biden administration over how best to handle record numbers of migrants arriving at the border. The court fights, which intensified this week, have centered on claims that the border is in crisis. But recently, the opposite has been happening along the Rio Grande as it curves its way through Eagle Pass: In an area that las

DeSantis continues to send Haitians to Dem locations

Daily Mail: Ron DeSantis has threatened to send Haitian migrants to leafy Democrat enclaves in the north as gang warfare engulfs the embattled Caribbean nation. The Florida governor said refugees arriving in his state would go the same way as the thousands of migrants he has already bussed to Democrat strongholds such as Sacramento and Martha's Vineyard. Attacks spread to upscale neighborhoods in Haiti's capital Port-au-Prince on Monday leaving at least a dozen people dead on Monday as cop turned gang leader Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier attempts to seize power with his thousands of heavily-armed followers. But DeSantis has already dispatched more than 100 police officers and state guards to coastal areas to sweep up any new arrivals escaping the violence. 'We do have our transport program also that's going to be operational,' he told podcaster Dana Loesch on Tuesday. 'Haitians land in the Florida Keys, their next stop very well may be Martha's Vine

Trump has 18% advantage over Biden on the economy

American Greatness: Americans grow increasingly frustrated with the miserable economy, which presents particular hurdles for workers of modest means. These angst-ridden masses of struggling citizens blame Biden for their woes, as proven by brand new battleground polling. In addition, these voters long for the more prosperous days of President Trump. According to the corporate media narrative, the economy is just swell. But regular Americans know better, and they resent the propaganda attempts to make them believe a lie about their own challenging financial reality. These are tough economic times of tremendous anxiety across the land, and the latest polling proves this point. My populist laborers’ organization, the League of American Workers , just canvassed the critical swing state of Arizona. Our pollster, North Star Opinion Research, queried 600 likely voters, evenly split between Trump and Biden 2020 voters. Overall, Trump leads by 4% in Arizona , a state where Joe Biden prevaile
