Biden declares war on the Texas economy

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott lashed out at Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden after he make remarks about the oil industry during his final debate with President Donald Trump. He was one of many who lambasted the former vice president for his alarming comments on oil. 

When the two candidates were debating on climate change, Biden declared that if elected, he would “transition away from the oil industry.” Trump responded, “Oh, that’s a big statement.” 

Kristen Welker, the moderator, then asked the Democratic candidate why he would make such a move. “Because the oil industry pollutes significantly. It has to be replaced by renewable energy over time and to the oil industry, I’d stop giving them federal subsidies. He won’t give federal subsidies to solar and wind, why are we giving it to the oil industry?” Biden replied. 

Shortly after the debate, Abbott took to Twitter to express his views on the matter. “Biden wants to ‘transition’ away from the oil industry. He just killed paycheck earned by hardworking families in Texas. Joe just wants to transition away from Texas. Remember that on election day…” he tweeted. 

The former vice president also fibbed about his stance on fracking, stating that he would not phase it out. However, during one of the Democratic primary debates, Biden indicated that he would get rid of fracking despite the hundreds and thousands of jobs the industry has created. During his debate with Trump, he claimed that he was referring to fracking on federal land. 

But despite Biden’s excuses, he still experienced a tremendous backlash for his comments. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry also weighed in, noting that such a move would kill millions of jobs. “Hey Texas and Pennsylvania, @JoeBiden just admitted he would transition from the oil industry, effectively killing an estimated 11 million jobs.” 

“Basically, what he’s saying is that he is going to destroy the oil industry,” Trump pointed out. “Will you remember that, Texas? Will you remember that, Pennsylvania? Will you remember that, Oklahoma?”

It is not just 11 million Texas jobs in the oil industry that would be hurt.  Such a move would also destroy the housing economy as people defaulted on loans for home purchases.  It would have a cascading impact on retail suppliers too.  Then there is public education which gets most of its financing from taxes paid by the oil industry.  

Any Texan who votes for Biden will be acting against their own interests.  What this Biden plan demonstrates is that he and the Democrats are willing to destroy the Texas economy and that of Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and other oil-producing states to push inefficient and unreliable alternative energy projects that cost two or three times as much to consumers of energy,

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014.
