EU agrees to Brexit deal proposed by Boris Johnson

NY Times:
Prime Minister Boris Johnson of Britain called the draft agreement a “great new deal that takes back control.”

The agreement was a step forward in the frantic negotiations to map out Britain’s departure from the E.U., but the support of Parliament and Northern Irish lawmakers is far from assured.

Not agreeing to extend the deadline appears to have worked to force the EU to be more reasonable in its demands.  It looks like Johnson's hardline strategy of using the deadline for a no-deal departure was more effective than past administrations' attempt to get a deal through concessions.
