Why is the media making such a big deal about an early forecast which showed the hurricane could cut across Florida and hit Alabama?

NY Times:

A Presidential Storm Leaves Forecasters Rebuked

The parent agency of the National Weather Service’s Birmingham, Ala., office issued a statement admonishing it for challenging President Trump’s claim about a hurricane threat to Alabama.
Hurricane forecasts are notoriously inaccurate at times.  That the President warned people on one of the forecasts that turned out to be wrong should not be the big deal much of the media has made of it.  Clearly, it is better to be prepared for a storm that does not come than to not be prepared for one that does come.  It is something that those of us living within 100 miles of the Texas coast are familiar with.
