Virtue signalling loses to raw power politics in Virginia
John Kass:
Another observation of my own is that I noticed that the complaining witnesses against the Lt. Governor are women that have not been described by other Democrats as "survivors" as were the alleged "victims" of a Supreme Court nominee. Why is that? I suspect it is because they don't want to trip the dominoes that might lead to a Republican taking the /Governor's office.
...I recommend you read the whole thing. Kass nails it.
Two key constituencies of the Democratic Party are in symbolic conflict, African-Americans and women.
And all the old virtue-signaling has been put on hold, until the Democrats can figure it out, because this isn’t about skinning Republicans, is it?
That’s easy.
This is about protecting Democratic control of Virginia.
And it’s becoming embarrassing.
It’s not about morality is it? It isn’t about protecting women or condemning racism. It’s all about one thing and one thing only:
The exercise of power.
Virginia Democrats? Thanks for the lesson.
