Democrats and media claim if you don't vote for the black Democrat you are a racist, but ignore Democrats voting against John James in Michigan

Jack Hellner:
The media and other Democrats seem to think that they are entitled to win every race where they have a minority candidate. Otherwise, the voters are racists. The following AP story and Washington Post opinion piece are clear examples of how the media continue to play the race card.

President Trump referred to failed Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum as a thief because he improperly took gifts, and somehow that is racist? And Trump calls losing Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams incompetent, and somehow that is racist?

Trump has called white politicians from both parties much worse than thieves and incompetent, so it is truly pathetic that the media and Democrats play the race card.
What is sad is that journalists and Democrats didn’t actually care about how corrupt Gillum and Tallahassee appear to be. They wanted him because he was a Democrat and nothing else mattered. Of course they also supported the corrupt Menendez for reelection. The “D’ is obviously more important than race or honesty.
...
Gillum was constantly playing the race card throughout the campaign.  Any criticism of his was deemed racist.

This election will also be remembered for Democrats overplaying the race card National Review points out:
Storyline A: “We didn’t lose!” Storyline B: “If we did lose, it’s because you’re a racist!”

The Democratic party’s transformation into an undergraduate intersectionality seminar at Oberlin is proceeding at a remarkable pace. The party’s current strategy is to scream “Racist!” at people voting for Mia Love and Tim Scott while insisting that Jared Kushner’s father-in-law and Benjamin Netanyahu’s best political friend is a scheming anti-Semite.

At issue is the defeat of Andrew Gillum in the Florida governor’s race and of Stacey Abrams in the Georgia governor’s race. Democrats are busily trying to undo those defeats as of this writing (Florida Democrats have a real knack for suddenly discovering caches of ballots from sympathetic voters at the opportune moment) while simultaneously arguing that the reason these two candidates failed is that they are black, and that Donald Trump’s America is just one tweet away from repealing the 13th Amendment.

Senator Bernie Sanders — who abandoned his native Brooklyn for Vermont, the whitest state in the union — insists that white voters are “uncomfortable” voting for a black candidate. Maybe some are. But Barack Obama won more than 100 more electoral votes running against Mitt Romney than Hillary Clinton won running against a man who’d never run for office before. The signals are at least mixed.
...
To be consistent the Democrats would also have to concede that Democrats who vote against John James in the Michigan Senate race were also racist, right?   Or do they just drop inconvenient facts from their screed?
