Cruz solidifies lead in Texas Senate race

Red States:
With just three weeks to go, Sen. Ted Cruz has an insurmountable lead on challenger Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke in the latest poll commissioned by CNN.

In the poll taken from October 9 thru 13, Cruz has a comfortable 7-point lead over O’Rourke.
...

The poll also includes Texas Governor Gregg Abbott with a double-digit lead of 18 points over Democratic challenger, Lupe Valdez. With Cruz gaining in recent weeks, along with Abbott’s popularity and voter’s habit of not splitting their ticket, it’s looking fairly certain Texas won’t be electing a Democrat in a statewide race in 2018.
...
Cruz and O'Rourke debated each other last night.  Cruz has always been a strong debater and reports indicate he was in this debate.  O'Rourke can't blame his loss on a lack of funding.  He has raised more money than any other Senate candidate this year and is determined to spend it all on this race.

During the debate, O'Rourke dodged the question on border security.
