Schumer makes ridiculous suggestion on Supreme Court vacancy

Washington Post:

Schumer urges Trump to tap Merrick Garland for Supreme Court

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) told President Trump that naming Garland — former president Barack Obama’s choice for the high court who was shunned by Republicans in 2016 — would help unite the country.
Schumer is asking Trump to betray the people who got him elected.  That is not going to happen, and he knows it.  Voters backed Trump because they trusted him to make a better choice on Supreme Court nominees than Obama had and Hillary Clinton would.  Republican Senators also know how important this nomination is to the base and they best not monkey around on it.  Any Republican who votes no on this nomination is shortening their career.

It is time to put another originalist on the court and stop the Democrat's practice of using the court to dictate their unpopular agenda on this country.  An originalist will restore the checks and balances of the Constitution and force legislatures to make the decisions Democrats have been trying to get through the courts.
