Immigration should not be based solely on empathy
Washington Post:
‘They just took them?’: Frantic parents separated from their kids fill courts on the borderThere is a right way and a wrong to immigrate to the US and if you choose the wrong way there are likely to be consequences. There are roughly seven billion people in the world and a lot of them would like to come to the US and get on benefits. One of the main weaknesses of the open borders proponents is that they have no limiting principles when it comes to illegal immigration. A billion here and a billion there and all of a sudden you have too many people taking jobs from citizens and money from the government. It is not sustainable.
Federal courtrooms across the Southwest are being flooded with distraught mothers and fathers charged with misdemeanor illegal entry and separated from their children — a shift in policy touted by the Trump administration as a way to stop families from trying to reach the United States but decried by critics as traumatizing and inhumane.
