Assad would not be in a good mood if US, allies blew up his delivery system for WMD

Washington Post:
Assad said to be in ‘good mood,’ scorns U.S. weaponry after allied strikes

Despite claims by President Trump that the operation was an “enormous success,” it is being interpreted in Syria as a win for President Bashar al-Assad because the limited scope of the strikes made it clear that Western powers do not intend to challenge to his rule.
If Assad's air force was destroyed he would not be able to drop barrel bombs filled with WMD.  If he does it again, his planes should be the next target.  That would certainly hinder his future efforts and might even lead to his defeat by the rebels.
