Iran's leaders have lost credibility about what happened to protesters

With members of Iran’s mainstream society willing to dispute official explanations for the deaths of three protesters, it could be that the fallout from the unrest is just beginning.
What should be clear is that it is not going away anytime soon.  Is there a good reason to believe what a regime that buys a device for chopping off fingers says about those who die in its custody?   It is a regime that views cruel and unusual punishment as necessary to remaining in power.
