Durbin is not a credible source for claims about Trump's statement

Washington Post:
Sen. Durbin, rebutting Trump, says president did utter ‘racist’ remarks

President Trump said he used “tough” language during a discussion on immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and some African nations but appeared to deny using the term “shithole.”

Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), who attended the same meeting, said Trump's denial was false.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) criticized Trump’s remarks during an event in Milwaukee, pointing to his own Irish ancestors’ migration to America.
Durbin is a hyper-partisan liberal Democrat who has a history of making incendiary claims.  He once compared US troops fighting Islamic terrorist to Nazis.

I think he went into Trump's office with a plan he knew or should have known was a non-starter proposing amnesty for a larger pool than just DACA attempting to spread it to the illegals who brought them into the country.

This is all part of a Democrat scheme to try to build up their shrinking base by adding immigrants they can make dependent on social programs.   They knew the Presiden had already made clear he wanted to stop chain migration and yet their proposal would have required chain migration for DACA parents.

The fact that it had the support of amnesty Republicans like Flake and Graham does not cure the problem.  They will not get DACA or immigration reform if they stick with this bad idea which is virulently opposed by a majority of the voters who aren't all that keen on DACA in the first place.

Durbin should not be included in any more negotiations if they want to get a DACA deal done.  He is poison to most conservatives.  This brouhaha is an example of how manipulative he is.

Republican senators who were in the room do not support Durbin's incendiary claims.
