The Washington Post devolves into sophomoric insults about the President

Washington Post:

Inside the ‘adult day care center’: How aides try to control and coerce Trump

Some White House aides spend a significant part of their time devising ways to rein in the impetuous president, angling to avoid outbursts that might work against him, according to interviews with 18 aides, confidants and outside advisers.
This is pretty typical of what passes for analysis at the Washington Post since Trump was elected President.  While I still look at their page every day it is getting pretty hard to find a story that attempts fairness.  It is as if there is a lack of "adult supervision" at this once great media outlet.  While the NY Times reporters are probably just as hostile to the President, at least their supervisors try to rein in emotional responses to his actions.

I have to assume this is what Bezos wants since he could stop it and tell them to act more professionally.

I realize Trump can be a difficult person to report on.  He tends to be unscripted and also often times openly vents when things bother him.  I have worked with executives like that in the past.  They are not crazy.  They do have the advantage of not being the subject of wall to wall media coverage.  It is not a matter of "controlling" them.  It is a matter of explaining the situation and the alternatives available to them as a response to a problem.

Suggesting that he is a tempestuous child shows an immature response by the media and not him.

One of the things that is very different about President Trump to past Republican Presidents, that he does not stoically absorb attacks by the media.  He fights back.  Media figures have trouble handling this kind of criticism although they are eager to dole out criticism of the President.  By never conceding that he has a point, they reduce their own credibility.  They are eager to "fact check" his off the cuff statements but not so eager to keep a list of all the times their attacks and reports that are critical of him have been wrong.

If they want to just please the angry left, they can keep doing their thing.  If they want to see their influence expand beyond the nitch of Trump haters they are going to have to change their approach.
